RE: WANTED: Glastron Carlson CV16 Dashboard and/or gauges

Wow!! You guys are creative for sure... I wish you were around when I rebuilt my 74 CV-16ss. When i rebuilt mine I hot glued planter foam on the back side and sanded it down to match the design of the missing corners and then I layered 3 mats of fiber glass and followed with filler. It was heavy and sturdy, I painted it white. Yours for sure looks like you put in the mold time. I will look for some pictures..

RE: WANTED: Glastron Carlson CV16 Dashboard and/or gauges

I could cut the holes; I do have a template for the 73” gauge locations.   You will need to save your switch plates, your glove box door, hardware and your glove box.

I cut the old glove box off of the old dash and attached it to the new dash with rivets and Gorilla Glue on my brother in-laws: I had to make all of that for mine because my dash was missing completely.  I have a mold for the door front as well, incase yours is in bad shape.

The bad news is that I would need $300.00 for the new dash, Painted or unpainted and I can't get to it until January.  I put a textured finish on my brother in-laws; it’s the one in the picture.

I'm not trying to make money on this forum, I just want to help and the $300.00 would pretty much cover my time and materials.

Let me know if you are interested.

Wow...nice job!  How much would you charge to make one?  And would it have the holes cut for the gauges?

RE: WANTED: Glastron Carlson CV16 Dashboard and/or gauges

I spent the good part of a year trying to find a dash for my 72 CV-16SS.  My brother in-law also needed one for his 73.  The problem is that they are made out of poor quality plastic and they have all deteriorated so it’s almost impossible to find a good one.   I finally decided to make a mold out of my brother in-laws old dash and was able to cast two new fiberglass dashes from that mold.  I have a ton of ours in it but I still have the mold and could probably cast one for you if you are interested.01e3956baca5d5c63f484d71f4e7993e7bb37b667f.jpg

RE: WANTED: Glastron Carlson CV16 Dashboard and/or gauges

Welcome to the site,

Can you post a picture of the dash you currently have? There are 2 different styles for that boat, and if it is the molded plastic that will be hard to find as I had a 74 CV-16. I ended up fiber glassing mine and painting it, but post a pic so we can try to match it.. Please don't forget to post on the new members thread with a little about your self and a pic of your boat.

Thanks

Mike

WANTED: Glastron Carlson CV16 Dashboard and/or gauges

I am looking for a replacement dashboard for a Glastron Carlson CV16 (1973).  I also need the teleflex gauges that are chrome with a red line and blue ring.  Attached is a pic of the dashboard.
