Picture is bottom of engine pad inside edge with the aluminum angle on top under the foam and it works good. In picture it shows the counter sunk screws on bottom side.
Thanks Gordy! As my boat is in storage I cant look at the engine hatch area for a few weeks. However I believe the two engine hatches close onto a recessed fiberglass piece surrounding the perimeter of the hatch area. If I have this right does the 3/4" aluminum piece mount under the fiberglass that supports the hatch? If mounted on the top I would think it would cause the hatch to not close flush. Hope this makes some sense and wish I had some pictures of my own engine area with me to help make more sense of this.
I used 3/4 inch thick walled aluminum on top with 1/4 inch threaded holes and screw it in from the bottom after counter sinking the plywood for the screws about 1 inch in. No pictures. Gordy
Hey All....previously I posted some pictures of my '83 Scimitar which has been completed last summer. One area I had hoped to shore up is to improve the support of the engine hatches where they meet together in the middle when closed. I thought I saw some pictures of one or two Scimitars in this forum which had a metal bar installed (guessing aluminum)....extending from the back of the engine compartment to the front. It added support to the engine hatches as they meet together when closed. After installing a new engine and all new hatches and vinyl I want to make sure there is enough support as we walk on the hatches while in use. Have any of you done this before and if so what material did you use? Could use some tips on this one. Thanks,
