RE: Progress on the Scimitar

Hey George, I'm glad you got it in down there .  I got done with the new molds for the winklets, and got the others down to Eaton Quade,  Franky said they'd be ready tomorrow evening or friday morning.  I'm starting to work on my Scimitar tonight,  I'm gonna re-adjust the valves lifters,  I got a new electronic dist,  re-gap the plugs,  I got new  .072 jets for the carb,  and I plan on running it out in the evening ...

RE: Progress on the Scimitar

I dropped the Scimitar off at the painter's yesterday. A place in Shawnee called Boaties. A pretty nice operation with a lot of old boats for sale. They will do a little body work, and then repaint the original two tone colors. A 10-14 day job, so in a few weeks I should have the boat and interior ready to be put back together. The dollars are mounting in this project, but I think it will be a really nice boat when completed. When they get the boat off the trailer (they hang the boat in the air for painting) I plan to pick up the trailer and repaint it to match. I'll post pics of the final product in a few weeks.

RE: Progress on the Scimitar

Good Deal George,  I quess the painter forgot, he didn't get back to me today, but I certainly understand what he's going through to finish up new paint job to deliver an airplane, and I figure you know all about that stuff ...

I been working on the new exhaust system for the Scimitar today, until it rained me out.  I got all the pipe and hoses cut and fitted, Dennis took the reducers to his place to weld em up, it looks pretty good.  I had to use the 3" through pipes, reduced from the 4" risers,  they are 18" long and 13" of them stick outside the transom, but they are still up under the rear of the boat so they are kinda out of sight.  It should sound off pretty good.  The exhaust runners inside the manifolds are 2 1/2 " so it should flow just fine, but I would rather have went through with the 4" just for the noise.  I may need to rename the boat from "Red's Gold" to "Red's Racket".

Progress on the Scimitar

I've been doing a little work on the Scimitar lately. Ole Red completed the seat frames last week, so I spent some time this week removing the rest of the upholstered items in the boat. I dropped them off at the upholstery shop today and they should be ready the week of June 2nd.
Now I've removed the cleats and all the chrome items from the hull to get it ready to paint. My goal is to get it painted before the seats are completed, then it will be ready to put back together.
Geo.
