RE: Looking for Scimitar

Don,  there's a Scimitar for sale up in Montana for $5000
It don't have a motor, but ih does have a recent Gen II drive,  it's listed on the for sale page.

Steped Hull ... ?  I don't think that would be any advantage to the Scimitar, mostly because of it's light weight.  The stepped hull design works well with a heavy boat alright, but,  at trimmed speed there's not very much of the Scimitar hull in the water, now a Pad ... maybe,  I've wondered about that myself.

Art Carlson still owns the design, not Glastron, and I'm pretty sure he'd sell it for the money.  There is a man the worked for him during the pruduction of the Scimitar that still has all the tooling and some odds and ends for the Scimitar,  Art told me that,  and he was going to see what all the fellow still had and pass that on to me, but I've not contacted him in a few months,  but I will soon,  I have a package to mail to him,  I'll call him when I get it in the mail.

Here's a link to the ForSale page  http://www.olered.com/ForSale.html

and a video of the Scimitar at full speed

RE: Looking for Scimitar

I am still looking for a Scimitar, and price is an issue, even though I know this boat is worth the asking price.  Do you know if this design can be bought from Glastron.  I do not the costs of production, but I think with adding a step hull, and a larger engine compartment this could be reborn with new owners.
Just thinking about new ideas.
Take care,
Don

RE: Looking for Scimitar

Hi Don,  welcome to the site.

Seems like you used good judgement by not holding the bag for your brother,  good intentions don't always pan out the way we expect them too.

Several of us here are looking for another Scimitar,  they just kinda Grow on ya.  Keep hanging out here, and on the main site, and one will Pop up when ya least expect it too,  but ya gotta be Quick,  they don't last long on the market.

Take Care .. stay in touch.

Looking for Scimitar

I previously owned a 1982 Scimitar, and in 1984 my brother needed some money, and I gave him title to the boat so he could get a loan on it.  I did not feel good about getting a loan on the boat in my name, because I was just about to pay it off, and I could not afford a new note payment at the amount he was borrowing.  I was in college already working 2 jobs, and I wanted to keep my good credit.  I trusted him (brother), and after he got the loan he never made 1 payment on the note!!!!  I am looking for another Scimitar, and would like to know if anyone knows of one for sale (beige, or little darker).  My boat was a 2 tone beige.  I just started college with little income at the time (this is the short version of the story).  I had previous worked 2 part time jobs to pay for the note I took out before I transferred the title.   I was young, and dumb!
