RE: production numbers?

Thanks for the replies guys, as for the post I was referring to was the boat in Colorado.

And as for the other boats that are for sale, they are fine examples of a classic glastron. But thats not what Im looking for, Im more into the project boat market. I know very little about boats and what got me started is I think Im going to buy a friends 89 futura for $4k so I was doing some research and stumbled onto the Scimitar. After 6 yrs. of restoring my 67 camaro, Im looking for another project. Lets just hope the wife gets on board (pun intended) and lets me spend the extra cash for a non running boat.

Hi David,  I forgot about the post you made last month about your Scimitar for sale, sorry about that, but I responded to the post and I sent email to you, with no response,  offering to create you a web page for it, but  I did get your boat listed on the For Sale page today,  hope it helps you sell your boat.

I did create this site, but I don't concider it to be mine,  I created it for all of us,  to locate as many of the Scimitars as we can, share pictures, projects, progress, and of course boats for sale.  I certainly don't intend to neglect anyone, or show any favorites.  I have been so focused on my building project the last few months that I have neglected the site some but I'm back to work on my boat now and I'll be paying a little more attention to the site.

Good Luck with the sale of your beautiful boat.

RE: production numbers?

Welcome to the site Jaymz  :)

According to telephone conversations I've had with Art Carlson over the last two years, there were about 500 of the Scimitars made from 1980 thru 1983,  the one's that were sold in 1984 were the boats already in production in 1983 as 1984 models, and a few of them,  the last one's,  were finished out and sold in 1984 had a different color scheme and options that were as special additions.

Out to the 500 produced, about 200 of them were sold to dealers in seven different countries over seas, leaving only about 300 of the Scimitars in the U.S.  according to Art,  many of the 300 that were sold in the next few years here  in the U.S. were bought by folks over seas and in Canada also.

I don't know what add you mentioned, but there is one for sale here in Okc,  thats George's boat,  you can contact him for more information at geoschott@cox.net

One just sold a few day's ago on ebay for the buy it now price of $10,000 shortly after it was listed,  the fellow that listed it didn't know what he had,  it was a beauty and had been garage kept all it's life, only 200 hrs on it and only owned by his family.

Take Care,  stay in touch
