RE: scimitar in playboy or penthouse advertisment?

According to my research, Glastron was contracted to build 4 CV23 HT's (Hardtop) for Eon Productions, the James Bond group. They were ordered in the silver metalflake over gray scheme, the only CV23's done in these colors as far as anyone knows. Eon guys did the mods for the film themselves, the hardtop panels that flew off and the armaments etc. Only one original boat remains, property of the Ian Fleming foundation and being repaired in Illinois.
As far as I know, there are only 4 or 5 original CV23HT's left remaining.
I found this one through the CGOA website last summer in Utah...total basket case.

Yes the stabilizer system is under wraps at present until patent pending is official. It is going to be targeted at larger boats but the engineers needed a small vessel for prototype testing.

Wow that thing looks sinister in all black! I think it would look good any color you choose as long as it is the og. scheme. I do like the slvr/gry combo because it leaves interior choices limitless.biggrin I've never seen Moonraker, didn't know the CV23 hardtop was slvr/gry. So, is this new stabilizer system top secret? If not, I'd love to see any Scimitar specific mods! Take care.

I found my Scimitar in Tampa in pretty poor condition. It was originally the turquoise metalflake but had been repainted maroon/gray and was pealing off.
I am using the boat as a test bed for a new boat stabilizer system and we did a down and dirty rolled on flat black just for photos.
We call it the "SR-71 Blackbird Scimitar" after the airforce spy plane.
Its a 20' paint job rolled right over the top of everything including hundreds of holes where the previous owner had snaps for covers....horrible.
I'm torn between going with original colors versus the silver metalflake over gray just like I did the CV23HT "Moonraker II".

My boat has been repainted from the beltline up. I plan on going back to original. It is a 1983 model.  I know I could strip it with some EZ off in no time, but it looks nice with the pearl white cap IMHO. Mechanicals first, paint last. I would like to see a pic of the gray/silver combo myself! We know they are out there, just no pics! What color is your Scimitar? Take care!

Chad,
Hi, from a recent Scimitar owner. I am trying to decide on a color for the upcoming restoration of my boat. I am partial to the silver/gray combo like yours and was wondering if it is original and if it is the standard metalflake gelcoat. If you have any other photos I would appreciate seeing them.
Thanks,
Jim

Hi Guy !

and Nope, I don't know anything about a P;aybor or Penthouse picture with a Scimitar, However ... the last of the Scimitars sold in 1984 as a special addition were silver metalic and grey.  There is not much info about the 84's and I've only seen three pictures of an 84 and one of them were silver and grey from the plant.

You gotta stay in touch so we can gather up some where this summer,  I'm looking forward to that,  and don't forget about our show here September 26th

scimitar in playboy or penthouse advertisment?

Hey guys! When I first got my scimitar I put my info on one of the Carlson boards and recieved a very interesting e-mail. Unfortunately that message was lost in a PC crash. This gentleman was wondering if I owned his old boat. He stated that he had owned a silver scimitar in the eighties(that was blown) and was featured in some advertisment in Playboy or Penthouse. This gentleman lived in Oklahoma at the time also! I haven't seen any signs of my boat ever having a blower on it, but I've never seen another silver scimitar either. Any one out there have any info? I'd kill for a copy of that ad! Anybody have any pics, or heard of any other silver scimitars? Thanks in advance!

Chad

p.s.hey Red looking great at 68!(mph) Bet 70 is just around the corner!
