I worked at the prop shop most of today, done a couple boat test, I like that, but I did get the motor all tied back together and back in the boat, I'll get it hooked up and fired up tomorrow unless I got to work again, but it will be back in the water tomorrow evening probably, maybe Saturday.

I'm anxious to see how this new cam run's out myself, there is such a thing as Too Big a cam for these small blocks,  this one is probably pushing the limits but I won't know until I run it out.  Believe it or not,  it's not going to bother me much if it don't perform up to my expectations because thats how I learn things,  bolt it together and run it,  and,  I enjoy working on this baby.

i believe thats pretty darn snappy olered, is that in the 1000 foot range? hows the improvements on your motor coming, bout gotter rapped up ready to go in?

That green boat is Pretty, it's like Bill's, and I think you're right,  you got the Scimitar Bug .. LOL

I'm gonna find out more about the speed of my boat Sunday afternoon,  I'm meeting Matt with his Southwind out at the lake then.  I got my motor put back together today, I'll be installing it tomorrow morning.

The best I can tell, my boat runs "0"to "65" in 16 seconds with the PowerTech 3 blade, and with the 4 blade KonFu it's about 13 seconds.

i appreciate the advice, im always a good listener when when people have opions about there views. i will need to rethink my thoughts on the motor cover and come up with a good design to keep the original look but yet maintain performance. i agree with you on the whole buttin thing collecting water, i thought i had a bunch of little ponds in my boat, i think im going to just start laying out towels on the back seats. my wifes named the boat possibly- "solid gold" what do ya think? she thinks its kinda knight riderish, even called me michael knight. 

and as far as opening her up, ill be saving that for when no ones on the lake and the waters just right, im a pretty safe driver and i definatly dont want to sink this classic.
so how did the drag race go? what were your times and speeds? ive been tellin all the boys out here in cali about your scimitar. it seems to be a real eye catcher thats for shure.
i think ive got an itch for another scimitar, 1980 metalflake emerald mist with 389 original hours, im really fond of that color. talked to the owner today and worked a deal, so keep your fingers crossed, we might have another scimi in the family,  goofy4glass

I'm so glad that beauty went to a Good Home, and also glad you are using good judgement getting some seat time before you open it up and run it out.  Remember,  when you open that baby up, you be sure you are headed directly into the waves, not at any angle, because, when it's running flat out and trimmed up to where the bow is lifted, you'll see a rooster tail about 2 or 3 feet high behind you, you'll be running right at 60 mph and only about 3 or 4 ft of the boat is in the water,  taking a wave off the side of the bow at that speed can set you up for a "chine walk", no one will have to tell you to pull the throttle off, and it's a little spooky the first time.

The original split lounge type engine cover was not really very sturdy, and the hinge sets were screwed into a 2 X 3 X 4 wood block attached to the top side of each wood platform so they would lift independently, they were easilly opened too far, stressing the hinge, resulting in the screws being pulled out or pulling the little blocks loose from the platform itself.  There was a single 1 X 3 channel aluminum piece screwed across the middle of the bilge area, front to rear, attaching to the back of the seat that both platforms rested on, it was only secured to the seat by a couple screws and was easilly stressed by steppin in the middle of the platform near the edge where they split.  

The main reason I chose not to use the split design was for reliability, and the reason I didn't pad them like the rest of the upholstry, with the buttons, were for safety,  it seems safer to me for people to be steppin in and out of the boat on a more solid surface than the 3" padded cusion,  and thirdly, that is a wet area when boarding after a swim,  the button divets cause water to seep down into the foam causing rot and excess weight.  Originally ... they looked great, and deadened a lot of engine noise, but for me, they were not safe and reliable, and I'm not into originality as much as I am practicality,  just my opinion, but I use my boat more than anyone else I know and I like it pretty practical, thats another reason I removed the electric seat,  you were commited to face forward only with it, and I like the idea of turning around in my seat.

well i took her out for another run today and everything went smooth as silk.  the lake was very choppy and white capped in the open area's so i stayed away from the caps. i had her up to about 50 mph but still dont wanna push her untilll im comfortable with the boat, water was'nt right anywase. we are going to take her out for the labor day weekend and do some early morning and late evenings runs. i ve started going through the boat and replacing a lot of the stuff that i dont think is original or just does'nt fit  the boat. i yanked the stereo and replaced it with a new one and found that none of the speakers were even hooked up so i just decided to go all new wiring and speakers also. im also having the motor cover redone to an original split cover with matching material. im making the frames and my uphulstry guy is running the fabric. i will most likely put in a high performance altinater? to accomidate for the stereo out put, im not in to big sound but just clear sound and dont want to get stuck so ill toss in dual batteries. the moor is running very well and im going to leave her at that for now untill i get the bulk of the other stuff done. well the list is growing but its fun and i enjoy it.
