New Windshield

Got the new windshield for the scimitar today, pretty interesting to watch Frankie and the molding process.  He cut a 3/8 thick arcrylic blank about 2" bigger than the original windshield, put it in a big oven and heated it up to 350/375 degree's.  When it started heating up, the thing bowed up in the middle like a couple inches, then as it got hotter it started laying down, looked distorted for sure,  Frankie kept moving it around keeping the heat even until it was limp as a piece of rubber.  Frankie put a piece of velvet over the original windshield, placed the hot arcrylis blank on the velvet and rubbed down the edges as it cooled.  then he placed a blanky over the boat, taped it into place and made a mark all around the windshield opening. layed on the new arcrylic, duplicated the marks he made, cut it down, sanded the edge's and there it was ... took about 3 hours all together.
