I got some of that stuff, I'll try to remember to measure what I have tomorrow, and I think I have the whole rubber insert, but that is available new from WEFCO rubber products.
The bow section of the rail was one pice, I may have that, but the rail was joined about the back seat to the transom box as they came.
Guys....at a point in my rebuild where I am searching for new rubrail and insert for my Scimitar. Dealer I am doing work with found new 12' sections which isn't too bad however would rather not splice together if possible. Please let me know if I can find new rubrail in longer sections. Thanks.
Hi Rob, The hinges I found at Home Depot were definitely smaller than the original factory hinges, however, they worked just fine. Moreover, I believe that they are stainless steel. I will call you in order to discuss your trip to Southern California. Best regards, Bill
Bill....see you are from California. Just curious if you are in the Los Angeles/Orange County area as I will be there this coming week. If so and if we could hook up would love to see your boat if possible. My email is robert.bork@dematic.com. Cell is 616-304-7217. Thanks Rob Bork
Bill....did you find a hinge that was a smaller size cause I couldn't find one as large or a similar configuration of those used in the Scimitar at the Home Depot's I visited. Maybe a smaller size works also? Also did you find stainless or what finish (due to rust)?
Red....thanks for the ash tray info....they seems to be the same ones. Put some questions into them and will probably order soon! Thanks!
Hi Rob, My name is Bill and Ole Red has given me a tremendous amount of help over the years I restored my Scimitar. That being said, I would hope to be helpful to you if you like. As to the hinge issue, I simply went to Home Depot and purchased a pair of decent quality door hinges to mount to the engine hatch opening. They work great and the hinge pins are removable, which makes it real easy to remove the hatch covers as needed! If you scroll back some pages here on the forum, you can find pictures I posted over the course of time as I restored my boat. Just look for postings by "pelicanbill". I hope this is helpful to you Rob and I wish you the best of success with your boat. Sincerely, Bill
Red....have been searching Chevy parts catalogs and calling several of the Classic parts dealers for these ash trays. Can't seem to locate this exact ash tray anywhere. Need the same one so I can fill the same hole in the teak wood. Any thoughts and ideas?? If you think it's best to call you please let me know....
Also have had no luck finding new hinges similar to what was used below.
