RE: Last CVX-20 ever made

Now that's a cool ole boat. Most of the folks out there have the Jet Drive but the Sprint is more impressive in handling because that direct response of direction the motor moves and if a fellow lighten up that hull it would make it a little faster also but other wise it is a great boat. If I remember that hull was made heave for the skier in mind, the boat weight would split the waves for a flatter wake for the skier to enjoy. I would say they had it all figured out now didn't they. And you are right Mike it is the best hull & motor combination for winter boating you don't need to worry about freezing as much.

Petekolb,

I know the Verado will be a lot of power for the boat and it's only a dream motor because I know they are big $$. I got the boat from a friend with no motor and the following winter of 2014 I picked up another boat with a Johnson 140 78' model year, I think it will be ok to start with until I can save & find the right Verado. I am doing a complete resto including all new close as factory color gel coat. It will be a lot of work but will pay off in personal satisfaction as I love the lines of the CV-20 Sprint.... also with Oklahoma's winter's an outboard is the best choice for boating year round. Are you looking to sell yours?

Virgin splash day 1988. Got a box somewhere with old pics... just gotta find it

As for a 300 Verado, WOW can you get those with a 20" shaft. If so you'll need 1 of 2 things. A casket or a shovel. The casket if something goes wrong, or the shovel to smack the ear to ear grin off your face (lol)

I have a 150 Mariner on mine and runs 56 with 4 people. by myself and an 1/8 tank of fuel 64. your gonna have a blast.img001.jpg

Pete,

Welcome to the site.. And next what a story! I won't call BS as to you never know the when, where, and how's people end up with the items they own. We would love to see a picture or two of the old days along with any up to date pictures that you may have. I have never seen a black CVX-20, I am currently in the process of restoring a CVX-20 Sprint that I would love to power with a 300 hp Verado.

Last CVX-20 ever made

Hello, my name is Pete and I am the original owner of the last CVX-20 ever made. In 1988 I was looking for a newer boat to replace my bowrider. Looking in the local boat trader I came across a CVX-20. My buddy Steve said "that's a Glastron" Now as luck might have it (and I know everyone out there is gonna call BS! on this) Steve's dad (Ernie Schmidt) just happened to be President of Glastron after leaving Chris-Craft here in Sarasota, Fl. He searched dealer inventory for a Black one but there were non left in the country, only gold, red, or blue. We drove to Titusville to look at one (gold) but I had my heart set on black. If I was going to buy a brand new boat it was going to be what I want. In may of 1988 Production of the CVX was coming to an end to set up tooling for the new 1989 CSS models. A few weeks went by and Steve said he had talked to his dad and he asked if I really wanted one of these boats. I said only if it's a black one. With my commitment the mold was pulled from storage and last CVX-20 was made (hull ID CN009931E888) I took delivery on July 28th 1988 from Maximo Marine in St Petersburg, Fl. When I first got it I used the hell out of it. (remember I was only24)priorities change  it just seems to be a shame for it to just sit in my shop. I go out usualy with a buddy in a center console to go fishing. (CVX's don't have a live well... lol) need less to say at 51 I haven't skied in years. I thought I would put a post on a glastron sight before I tried Craigs List or Ebay to see if there might be an interest by some one who has a passion for the Carlson Line. The boat has been under cover or stored inside its entire life except for about 6 months it hung on davits when the first trailer died. This boat is Original and unrestored. I would say it's a 7 out of 10. Let me know if you know someone that might be interested. Not in a hell fire hurry to sell, but its probably going to go some time this year to make room for new toys.
