I'm sure glad that beauty ended up in good hands. I can tell you a little bit about that one. When that boat left here the motor had less than 30 hours on it, it's a factory marine long block 300hp. If you want a little more hp in the boat I'd suggest you find one of the late model vortec's and build it up, I got a pretty goood formula for that ya know, thats what I did for mine.
You can propably sell the motor in that boat in your area for more than what it will cost you to build one of these vortec's, because of the low hours and fresh water use.
George and I ran the two together several times and when I put that Enertia prop on it was running 58 mph @ 4800 rpm, and I think it had a lot of gas in it, thats what slows these boats down about as much as anything because of the size and location of the tank. 36 gallons up in the nose (242 pounds) presses the stern down quite a bit with enough trim to hold the nose up for speed.
That Enertia prop is a Great prop for that because it gives you a lot of bow lift, and some stern lift too, if you over-ride the limit switch a little on that boat it will pick up a little more speed and get more of the hull out of the water, as long as it's not full of fuel.
I quess you have seen this Video.

i just wanted to introduce myself to the collectors and crowd of this site. i live in northern California just above Sacramento and just below Lake Tahoe. ive been a classic boat collector for some time now and have been infected with what you might call a glassic disease. ive been a big fan of the scimitar and found one in my neck of the woods just a few years back, a 1980 blue green model and it had disapeared as fast as it showed up, i believe she's still here in cali. i just recently bought Georges 1982 scimitar from bill in San Fran, cali and am really pleased with the boat. this is my first boat that is complete and turn key so to speak, most of what i collect is never nere ready to toss in the water. im going to take my time with this scimitar and go through it fixing and fine tuning, possibly crank up the hp, we'll see. thanks -- Edited by goofy4glass on Tuesday 4th of August 2009 10:10:36 PM
