Hey now you can make those run fast but that hull has a built in hook that will only let in reach certain speeds. You will need to fix that first if you want to get it above 60. put a straight edge along the bottom of the hull and you will see the hook, this create's a suction on the water to prevent instability in the hull. Now some time back Art Carlson and the Carlson/Glastron racing team took the hook out of a few hull's a reached phenomenal speed's, If a person did that today it would be in the replacement of the floor stringers with weight on the new stringers and straight edge on the bottom. Now burning-Day light is the fastest Intimadator I have seen yet, check out the home page for ideas..
Welcome to the forum.. You have your hands on a real eye catcher, those boats never go out of style. As matter of fact I don't think any CV or CVX Carlson has ever went out of style.. We would love to see some photo's so get quick on posting those pictures in the Me and My Boat thread. Lot's of good help here so reach out.
Hello all. After drooling over the CVX series I finally bit the bullet and bought one. CVX 23. Now the job of bringing her back to like new condition.....
Those intimidators are sharp but as I can remember no matter haw much power Ole Red put to Barbs it would only run in the high 70's due to that haul has a hook in it and it keep's it sucked down preventing any higher speeds. look into a straight edge place it along the bottom you will see it. that's if you want to break in to mid 80's.. I have a CVX-20 Sprint and I am putting in a cevlar transom to hold a 300hp Verado.
My buddy looked at that boat, he could tell you more. You probably already know, but the guy you bought that boat from actually repo'd 2 intimidators. I need to get my buddy to get on here. He currently owns a cvx 20. Post up some pics if you get a chance. I love me some intimidators!
BoaterMike, I have seen the rebuild pics and vids of Barbs boat. Its a very beautiful boat and Red did an outstanding job of restoring it. I hope to get to talk to Red sometime and maybe look at mine.
No, This one is silver and black. I am trying to get the previous owners name and info so I can get more info on the boat. The person that I bought it from owns storage units and repoed the boat about 3 years ago.
That is one of the nicest parts of the country. I don't know if you have seen it or not but if you click on our Home Page link and then click Our Gallery tab you will see a picture of Barb's Intimidator "AKA Burning Daylight", but there is the word link next to her name. Click that and there is plenty of pictures of a rebuild you wouldn't believe and some cool vid's also that Red and Barb done.
Hi Mike, I am located in southeast Ks. near Pittsburg. We have a place on Table Rock Lake where we will be boating most of the time. We do frequent different lakes alot. I will try to get some pics posted soon. I bought this boat in Tulsa so maybe someone on here may have some info on it.
Lets first start off with a welcome to the forum. It sounds like you have got your hands on a highly collectable boat, those boats along with a few others are worth a pretty penny... Be sure to post you info on the welcome members thread and some pictures of that cool boat. There is a lot of info on the home page with pictures and memorabilia about the Glastrons & Carlson's. Please post your progress and days of test run's and may be a we could join in and make a lake day boating. By the way where are you located? I live in the Moore, Ok. area and frequent Draper Lake. Take care.
Hey everyone, new member here. I just purchased a 1985 Intimidator and am ready to fix it up. Boat runs great but needs some minor repairs. Hope i can get help finding parts and getting some great info. Thanks, Jeff
